Zimbabwe appointed Chakabva as Captain of the team for Bangladesh ODIs: Just a few hours before the first ODI began, Zimbabwe Cricket displayed a 15-member squad. The announcement was made on the 4th of August 2022. The selected team members will compete against Bangladesh in the three-match ODI series. The ODI series between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh is scheduled to begin on August 5.
Regis Chakabva, the 34-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman is named the captain of his side. He has been given charge of the team for the next five days.
The three ODIs matches are set to be played on August 5, August 7, and August 10, 2022. All the contests will be hosted by the Harare Sports Club located in Harare.
Craig Ervine, the team’s regular captain, is given a break to recover from recent physical discomforts. In this situation, Chakabva has been selected to take over as Captain.
Sean Williams, the all-rounder, is set to miss the series. He has been granted leave to manage some personal issues. Ervine and Williams will not be seen. Instead, their places are filled by Takudzwanashe Kaitano and Tarisai Musakanda in the 15-member squad. The rest of the players remain the same as in the T20I series against Bangladesh.
Zimbabwe players are in good form
Luke Jongwe and Ryan Burl retained their place in the squad after the performances they displayed in the recently concluded T20I series. Zimbabwe went down the pages of history by defeating Bangladesh for the first time in a T20I series. They hope to perform in a similar manner to end the series on a high note.
Burl performed the best in the series. In 28-balls, he knocked 54 runs in the series decider. He contributed to the team in adding a new feather to their cap. He had a long six-hitting spree. He accumulated 34 runs in one over. He became a member of the elite list of batsmen to score the most runs in a single T20I over.
Sikandar Raza was declared the Player of the T20I Series. He scored 127 runs in the three games. His best score was 65 runs from 26 deliveries. The middle-order batsman displays in terrific form in the white-ball format.
