Youri Telemans would be ideal – Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn says Leicester midfielder would be a perfect transfer
Youri Telemans would be ideal : Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager, has already stated that he intends to make more moves in order to improve his squad.
Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos, and Matt Turner are the five players that have joined the Emirates this summer.
The 25-year-old Belgian Tielemans has also been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium, with a year remaining on his contract.
Despite Leicester’s expectation that Arsenal will make a play for the star, the North London club has yet to make an official approach.
In June, it was reported that Arsenal had already reached an agreement with the player on personal terms.
And because of his Premier League experience, Winterburn, who won three league titles with Arsenal between 1987 and 2000, feels Tielemans would be an ideal fit.
For the first time, the 58-year-old spoke exclusively with SunSport on behalf of FreeSuperTips and was asked who he would want to see join the team next season.

To which the two-time FA Cup champion replied: “However, I believe that we still need a midfielder like Tielemans, and he would be the ideal candidate.
“Arsenal is interested in players with Premier League experience, so he’s a good fit.
“With the transfer, I really don’t know if it’s going to happen because it’s been talked about so much.
“If you look at Arsenal’s activities over the previous two seasons, there’s a lot of young talent coming in. However, they need that type of midfielder.
“Arsenal’s aim is to bring in players who have previously played in the Premier League, so I’d expect that to be the case.
“With all of the speculation surrounding your team as a fan, you would expect someone with Premier League experience to join the team.
“They’ll have to be able to keep up with Arsenal’s pressing style, which I expect to be more prominent at the start of games.
“With Arteta and Edu, it can be tough predicting how Tielemans will perform.
“It’s possible that someone newer and younger, whom we haven’t yet heard of, may emerge, as they did both last season and this season.
When it comes to signing new players, “I’m hoping that they’ll be able to come right into this team if they make another one.”
After an excellent preseason on loan at Marseille, Arsenal’s new-look attack and French center-back William Saliba received high praise from Winterburn.
He had this to say: “With Saliba, you can see that he’s done a great job of keeping the ball out of the net, but he hasn’t done anything wrong.
“He appears at ease, is good with the ball, and possesses some speed.
“Let’s see how it does in the Premier League, as it appears to be in a good position.
“Jesus and Zinchenko seem like a no-brainer, but the interplay between Jesus, [Martin] Odegaard, [Bukayo] Saka, and [Gabriel] Martinelli has me a little awestruck.
“It’s an interesting prospect if they can retain those players in shape and keep up the strong work rate and front-pressing pressure.
“I think Arsenal’s attacking line-up for the season looks promising.”
