Your Ticket For The 2017 ICC Under-19 Women’s Twenty20 World Cup Is On Sale Now: Scotland’s European qualifying spot for the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup was determined after their series victory over the Netherlands.
During the first of three matches, Katherine Fraser’s team won to claim a two-game lead. Scotland would win the other two matches by 123 runs, with openers Ailsa Lister and Darcey Carter contributing centuries.
Scottish bowlers led the attack and Dutch players were the only ones to show any resistance with the bat. Robyn van Oosterom (39 and 43 in matches two and three) was the only Dutch player to score more than one run per over in both games.
Scotland was a perfect team, holding the Netherlands to scores of 78, 94/7 and 100/7 across the three fixtures. Rotating her bowlers with aplomb, Fraser already has 24 senior T20Is under her belt, chimed in with wickets of her own opening the bowling.
Scotland is the only new nation to qualify, joining the USA, UAE and Indonesia as Associates. The latter booked two away tickets to their first World Cup of any type after defeating PNG in a three-match series.
South Africa will be hosting the inaugural ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in January next year and has announced the list of participating teams. Teams from Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Uganda will be competing for the final spot.
