“You don’t have a gun finisher” – Aakash Chopra on Delhi Capitals’ limitations heading IPL 2024.
Aakash Chopra on Delhi Capitals’ limitations heading IPL 2024
Aakash Chopra is a cricket analyst, YouTuber, and former cricketer who represented India between 2003 and late 2004. Chopra now works as a Hindi cricket pundit for Viacom18.
He formerly wrote columns for ESPNcricinfo. His international cricket career included 10 test matches, in which he scored 437 runs at an average of 23 per match.
Aakash Chopra believes that the Delhi Capitals’ (DC) lack of an experienced finisher is one of their disadvantages coming into the IPL 2024 season.
During the IPL 2024 auction, the Capitals acquired Harry Brook as a possible finisher.
However, the England big-hitter has withdrawn from the 2019 season of the famous league owing to his grandmother’s death, and the Delhi-based team has yet to identify a successor for him.
In a video posted to his YouTube account, Chopra said that the Delhi Capitals’ lower-middle-order batting may be their Achilles heel in IPL 2024.
Chopra questioned why the Capitals did not try to purchase Shahrukh Khan during the auction.
While noting that they had signed Kumar Kushagra, he noted that this is the Jharkhand youngster’s first season in the elite league.
“Overseas becomes a bit of an issue”
While acknowledging that the Delhi Capitals have a solid Indian fast bowling team, Aakash Chopra suggested that the foreign seam department may be a problem.
The reputable pundit stated that Lungisani Ngidi’s absence, as well as the uncertainty surrounding Anrich Nortje’s fitness, might be a source of concern for Delhi.
