Aakash Chopra has encouraged India not to develop rank turners for the next Test series against England, arguing that it might be detrimental.
The two teams will compete in a five-Test series, with the opening game taking place in Hyderabad on Thursday, January 25.
It remains to be seen whether the hosts will continue to prepare square turners, as has been the case recently.
Previewing the season in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel, Chopra did not favor Rohit Sharma and the team preparing rank turners, saying (1:20).
The match contains a few major topics. The main thread is how the pitch should be.
Should rank turners be created? I’ve been saying this for a long time: you lost the World Cup final because you were obsessed with the pitch.
Preparing a pitch that benefited you lost you in the finals.
The former India opener further stated that the curator should only be requested to construct a result-oriented pitch.
You may argue this is a different format. It’s about the habit, not the format. You get complacent.
Offer the curator one instruction: create a pitch that produces results. It should not be a road-like pitch.
Chopra asserted that regardless of the field, India is the superior unit when man-to-man marking is used.
He further stated that any pitch made in India will ultimately turn.
The balances are plainly weighted towards India, and they will only win this series, says Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra projected a resounding victory for India in the five-match series, saying (7:10):
The balances are stacked in India’s favor, and they will only win this series. The issue is whether it will be 4-0, 5-0, or 4-1.
However, which match will England win, and how can they take 20 wickets when the spin attack is so weak?
The reputable expert believes the hosts may take advantage of England’s poor spin assault if the surfaces do not help the spinners too much.
I don’t see any potential in spin bowling.
So, if you don’t make turning pitches, you may score 500 runs against them at least three times during the series, possibly more.
I believe you will win this series handily.
Chopra believes England would miss Harry Brook in the series, pointing out that he was an important component of the Bazball style.
He also stated that the series will be a huge test for Ben Stokes, both as a batter and captain.
