Year-by-Year Profile: Mercedes Team. The Mercedes team have produced some memorable moments during their time in F1. Although they started with Michael Schumacher, they soon moved on to Nico Rosberg, and then Lewis Hamilton – who won back to back Championships with the Silver Arrows. With Valtteri Bottas now partnering Lewis Hamilton – the results are still coming.
Mercedes gained momentum with its return to the Formula One scene in 2010, as they eventually led the way up the ranks and claimed a third place spot. The excitement of Michael Schumacher’s return was soon followed by amazing headlines on track: three podiums in the first season, all via Nico Rosberg – who eventually got pole position then victory at China in 2012. The following season he was paired with Lewis Hamilton and went on to produce some epic title battles with Mercedes as well as reaching the top of their game during this modern F1 era. And as Lewis Hamilton now has Finn Valtteri Bottas by his side, Mercedes is still very much one of the dominant forces in Formula One
2021: Lewis Hamilton loses his drivers’ crown, as Max Verstappen of Red Bull wins the 2018 F1 race. The constructors’ title stays in RB’s hands for an eighth consecutive season.
2020: Mercedes joins Ferrari and Fernando Alonso in winning 11 times, but also becoming just the seventh car after Michael Schumacher to win seven championships. Valtteri Bottas brings two victories and it leads to a dominant double crown for Mercedes.
With the 2019 season, Man Utd secured their sixth consecutive championship on the back of five straight one-two victories in the opening matches and ten further wins. With all-round teamwork, rather than speed, usually the key to success, Valtteri Bottas improved his game during the year, bringing Lewis Hamilton right up to crashing Michael Schumacher’s record of some or another thing.
