Following a thorough showing throughout the three-match series at the National Stadium in Karachi on Tuesday, England defeated Pakistan by eight wickets in the last test to win the series 3-0. After the English side played an excellent style of aggressive cricket to trounce them thrice in the test series, Pakistan suffered their first series whitewash on home soil.
England only 38 minutes to complete a convincing eight-wicket victory on the fourth morning in Karachi, achieving their fourth-innings goal of 167 in 28.1 overs.
England was a bit more cautious on the fourth morning after failing in their attempt to win the third Test in three days, but it still only needed 11.1 overs to achieve the clean sweep with captain Ben Stokes unbeaten on 35 at one end and Duckett with an unbroken 82 runs at the other end.
On the fourth day, England resumed their inning at 112-2 with Stokes at 15 and Duckett at 50. The pair guided England to victory in under an hour, needing only under 12 overs to score the last 55 runs. Duckett proceeded to sweep, reverse-sweep, and paddle-sweep Abrar Ahmed as Stokes set the tone by muscling the third ball he faced through midwicket in an extraordinarily stunning comeback to test cricket.
A spectacular collapse in their second inning earlier on in the game caused Pakistan to lose their final seven wickets for 52 runs, cutting their advantage to a meagre 166 runs, which was never going to be enough to hold off the frenzied English batting order.
Rehan Ahmed, making his test debut, was the match-breaker in chief, taking five wickets and having a stellar debut. Azhar Ali, who represented Pakistan in his lengthy and distinguished international career, was applauded as he left the field while carrying a souvenir stump. The former captain of Pakistan played in 97 tests, amassing 7097 runs at a 42.49 average that included 19 hundreds.
Harry Brook, who led the tour with 468 runs in five innings, was named Player of the Series after tallying three hundreds. England has won nine out of 10 Test matches since Stokes and Brendon McCullum took over as captain and coach, respectively, a stunning turnaround from a run of only one victory in 17 games before to their appointments.
They annihilated a weak Pakistani squad in their first Test series there since 2005. Prior to their encounter against New Zealand on Boxing Day, Pakistan currently gets a little turnaround.
Brief results: England defeated Pakistan 304 (Babar 78, Salman 56; Leach 4-140) and 216 with a score of 354 (Brook 111, Foakes 64, Pope 51; Nauman 4-126, Abrar 4-150); Duckett 82*, Zak Crawley 41; and Abrar Ahmed 2-78). (Babar 54, Shakeel 53; Rehan 5-48)
