Yashasvi Jaiswal, Team India’s opener, earned great acclaim from Deep Dasgupta’s after her outstanding debut Test series against the West Indies.
The cricketer-turned-commentator said that despite it being Jaiswal’s first international appearance, he appeared comfortable while countering the bowlers. Dasgupta, though, made the argument that the youngster would eventually need to demonstrate his value against more challenging opponents.
These comments were made by the 46-year-old during a debate on ESPNcricinfo. He stated:
That is a huge, huge pro. The way Yashasvi Jaiswal batted suggested that he was at ease. But once more, in this manner, he will encounter tougher obstacles in the future.
“The upcoming series against South Africa will be a significant task in and of itself. But based on what we have seen thus far, he appears to be at ease and prepared for this level. He will only continue to improve. He looked fantastic during his first outing.”
In his first series, Jaiswal performed admirably, scoring 266 runs in three innings at an average of 88.66. He finished with the most runs scored in the entire series.
Ishan Kishan is described as “the kind of player you would want in that middle-order” by Deep Dasgupta‘s
Ishan Kishan may prove to be a key component of lineup India’s Test lineup, according to Deep Dasgupta. He asserted that the keeper-batter may bat in the middle order for the team.
Kishan will advance as he participates in more red-ball matches, according to Dasgupta. He said the following regarding the player’s first Test series:
He (Ishan Kishan) is the type of guy you would want in that middle-order, lower middle-order, that is a reality. He certainly fits in there well. He fulfills many of those criteria.
“He will likely start focusing on it and begin playing a lot more red-ball cricket if he is gently prodded and pushed and does realize there is a career for him in red-ball cricket as well. This will help him become a better keeper and hitter.”
Kishan contributed with a quick-fire 52*-run knock in the second match and was excellent with the gloves in the two Test matches.
