Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube, who had a spectacular 2023, notably in the shortest format, will be included in the BCCI central contract list shortly.
The two were part of the Indian squad that won gold in the 2023 Asian Games, and
they appear to be ready to play a key role in the next 2024 T20 World Cup as well.
Following a historic 2023 Indian Premier League season, Jaiswal earned his international debut in 2023 during the West Indies tour.
After playing frequently since his debut, the teenager has established his place in the pool of players for the T20I and Test formats.
Dube, on the other hand, has made a spectacular recovery following an unimpressive start to his international career.
With successive fifties in the present home T20I series against Afghanistan, he has made a strong case for himself.
The selectors and team management want him to bowl more and more because it increases Dube’s value as a player.
This is why he has been bowling a lot during this series.
He can seal his position in the side for the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the United States if he can bowl a few overs.
This is critical because he is the ideal backup to the injury-prone Hardik Pandya, according to a credible BCCI source.
Dube has taken two wickets in each of his outings against Afghanistan.
He was also tasked with delivering the last over in the second T20I in Indore when the bowlers faced challenging circumstances.
Before the T20I series, he had scored 2-13 and 4-10 in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy opener against Bihar in Patna.

The in-form pair hit fifty as India won the home series against Afghanistan with one game to spare.
Jaiswal hammered 68 runs off 34 deliveries while chasing 173 on a level surface.
Dube, who batted at No. 4, maintained his excellent form with an undefeated 63 runs off 32 deliveries.
The left-handed pair put on a 92-run third-wicket stand to enable the hosts to chase down the score with more than four overs to spare.
