Two unbeaten groups in UP Warriorz (UPW) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are set to clash against one another in Match 6 of the continuous Ladies’ Chief Association (WPL) 2023.
On March 7, the match is scheduled to take place at Mumbai’s Dr. DY Patil Stadium Academy Stadium.
In their first match against Gujarat Giants (GGT), UPW pulled off a remarkable run chase. UPW scored more than 50 runs in the final three overs thanks to Grace Harris’ 59 (off 26).
DC, on the other hand, outscored Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 223 runs and 2 balls. They prevailed by 60 runs, comfortably, in the match. So far in the tournament, the Dr. DY Patil Stadium has been a surface that is good for batting. However, Mumbai Indians (MI) bowlers demonstrated in the tournament’s opening match that they can exert sufficient pressure on batters by bowling tight lines and lengths.
In light of this, let’s take a look at the three bowlers who are likely to take wickets in the DC-UPW match.
3 Deepti Sharma – UPW
UPW Star Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma is a key member of UPW’s starting XI. She was acquired by the team for a record amount of 2.60 crores.
With established credentials, the 25-year-old is a well-known commodity on the international circuit. She is the most successful Indian T20I wicket-taker with over 102.
She is a strong candidate to be among the wickets against DC due to her propensity to take wickets frequently.
2 Sophie Ecclestone – UPW
In the inaugural WPL, UPW England’s left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone may be the deciding factor. Ecclestone, the best Women’s ODI and T20I bowler in the ICC, has played 55 ODIs and 70 T20Is and taken 87 and 97 wickets, respectively.
Ecclestone even had a fantastic Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 performance in which she took the most wickets with 11 at an impeccable average of under eight. The 23-year-old even took two wickets against GGT, and on Tuesday, she will undoubtedly take another wicket.
1 Tara Norris – DC
DC Tara Norris was the star of the show for DC in their previous match. She made history by taking five wickets against the Royals.
She scored an incredible 5/29 to become the first player from the United States to win both the World Players League (WPL) and the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Norris knocked out RCB’s Ellysa Perry, Disha Kasat, Richa Ghosh, Heather Knight, and Kanika Ahuja during her four-over spell.
She will attempt to repeat her performance against UPW, and the opposing batters must be on their toes when they confront the left-arm pacer.
