In the ongoing Women’s World Boxing Championship in Istanbul, India’s Nikhat Zareen, Parveen, and also Anamika have reached the quarter-finals by winning their respective matches in the pre-quarterfinals. With this, 7 boxers of India have reached the quarterfinals.
In the pre-quarterfinals of the 52kg weight category, Nikhat defeated Lutsaikhan Altansetseg of Mongolia 5-0 in a one-sided fashion. Nikhat, bronze medalist of the 2019 Asian Boxing Championships, was aggressive from the first round. He got the support of 4 out of 5 judges. She dominated the Mongolian boxer in the second round as well and was voted in her favor by 4 out of 5 judges.
While Nikhat continued to attack Lutsaikhan with his punches and went on to win the match 5-0. In the quarter-finals, Nikhat will face Charlie Davison of England, who defeated Hannite Kayla of Togo.
Parveen Defeated Former Youth Olympic Champion
At the same time, in the last-16 round match of the 63kg weight category, Parveen defeated former Youth Olympic champion Jazeera Gonzalez of America 5-0. Taking advantage of her tall stature, Parveen did well against Jazeera in the first round and managed to impress all the judges.
Jazeera was looking very aggressive but Parveen successfully dodged her and hit the right time with long hands. It was almost the same scene in the second round as well.
Jazeera became more aggressive in this round trying to make a comeback, but Parveen kept her composure. Parveen defended well in the third round and registered a one-sided victory.

Anamika defeated the bronze medalist of the World Championship
Anamika (50kg) defeated Australia’s Christie Lee Harris, bronze medalist, 5-0 at the World Championships. In the third round, Harris tried to make a comeback, but Anamika didn’t stand a chance and emerged the winner.
Now Anamika will take on Rio Olympic bronze medalist Ingrid Valencia of Colombia in the quarterfinals. The is scheduled for Monday.
