In the 27th game of the Women’s Super Smash 2023-24, Otago Sparks defeated Central Hinds by six wickets at Dunedin’s University Oval.
After losing the toss, Central Hinds were assigned to bat first. Emma McLeod (23), Rosemary Mair (32), and Claudia Green (15*) were the only players to reach double-digit scores. Hinds could only score 107/7 in 20 overs.
Emma Black notched up a four-wicket haul, allowing only 17 runs in four overs. Linsey Smith took two wickets for 14 runs in four overs, while Eden Carson took one wicket.
In the chase, Otago Sparks skipper Suzie Bates maintained her fine form, hitting 44 runs off 29 balls, including eight fours. B
ella James (19) and Felicity Leydon-Davis (20) hit crucial runs to lead their team home with 3.3 overs to spare.

Suzie Bates of the Otago Sparks moved one spot to take the lead in the run-scoring standings, amassing 390 runs in nine innings, including three fifty-plus scores.
Amelia Kerr, the Wellington Blaze captain, dropped one spot to second place with 354 runs from eight innings.
Maddy Green, the Auckland Hearts captain, finished third, scoring 279 runs in six innings at an average of 55.8.
