Auckland Aces versus Wellington Blaze
The Auckland Aces chose to bat first on a slow-paced wicket. Saachi Shahri and Anna Browning, the openers, continued their bad trend, losing their wickets early in the innings. Despite having little help from hitters on the other end, captain Maddy Green remained tall.
Green proceeded to score 36 runs off 46 balls, including one four-ball. Prue Catton provided solid assistance, scoring 20 runs off 18 balls, including two fours. Bella Armstrong performed admirably in the death overs, scoring 14 runs off 16 balls.
The Aces might eventually register 93/7 in 20 overs. Leigh Kasperek of Wellington took two wickets while allowing 27 runs in four overs. Jess Kerr, Xara Jetly, and Nicole Baird each took a wicket.
Rebecca Burns was dismissed for seven runs during the chase. Jessica McFadyen, the keeper-batter, was the star hitter, scoring 39 runs off 41 balls and hitting four fours. Interestingly, other hitters were unable to make an effect.
Jessica batted well till the end, leading her team to win in 18.2 overs with five wickets remaining. Amelia Kerr and Jess Kerr were the other hitters to reach double figures.
Skye Bowden took two wickets for 21 runs in three overs, however it was in vain. Fran Jonas, Molly Penfold, and Josie Penfold each had one wicket.
