On February 13, the Women’s Premier League will hold its first auction. According to the BCCI’s report, 1525 players have registered for the event and 409 players will be up for auction. The WPL auction 2023 will take place in Mumbai, India’s financial capital, on Monday, February 13.
There will be a pool of 12 crores from which each team can choose. The WPL will be held in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai in 2023. The auction will begin at 2:30 p.m. IST. On February 13, the Sports 18 Network will broadcast the WPL auction. When the first live auction for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) takes place on Monday, 409 players will be sold.
For the inaugural WPL season, the BCCI received a total of 1,525 registrations, out of which 409 players were selected. There will be competition for 246 Indian players and 163 international players to fill a maximum of 90 spots on each of the five teams.
Each of the five teams from Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Delhi can bid for up to 18 players, with a minimum requirement of 15 players. They can acquire seven international players, one of which comes from an Associate nation. A cash prize of INR 12 crore (approximately $1.46 million) has been awarded to each team.
Each of the five sides will need to spend at least INR 9 crore. During the WPL, teams can only include five international players in their starting lineup if at least one of them is from an Associate Nation.
