Indian women in the blue hockey team, who finished fourth in the Tokyo Olympics, restricted England to a 1-1 draw in the ongoing World Cup in Amstelveen on Sunday. English team took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute of the match with the help of Isabella Peter’s goal. Indian senior player Vandana Kataria scored in the 29th minute to level India. India got an opportunity of a penalty corner in just the first minute. India women in blue started well in this match and got a penalty corner in the very first minute.
But, the goal could not be turned opportunity into scoring the goal. English team then continued the counterattack and finally took the lead in the 9th minute. England succeeded to score a goal and the first quarter ended on the score line 1-0 in favor of the Britishers.
India scored a goal in the second quarter and equalize the score
English team held their lead for most of the second quarter. But In the 28th minute, India got their fourth penalty corner of the match and Indian penalty corner specialist Vandana Katariya scored a goal on the rebound to equalize the team. Both teams tried to score a goal in the third and fourth quarters. But both teams failed to score a single one. There were several attacks from both the teams in the third and fourth quarters but the defenders and goalkeepers of both teams did a good job.
The next opposition is China
The Indian team is in the poll B of the tournament. The next India will take on China in their second match in Pool B. China is a much weaker team as compared to India. India will defiantly go to win the match with a huge margin. India will try to make its position strong in the ongoing world cup. India has to play some difficult opponents later in the group stage.
