The Indian women’s hockey team is currently playing the Women’s Hockey World Cup. The captain of the site this time is led by Indian star goalkeeper Savita Punia. The team will clash with kiwis on Thursday. If Indian women in blue remain successful in defeating New Zealand, then its chances of entering the top-8 of the tournament i.e. quarter-finals will highly increase. Meanwhile, the Indian team has not won a single match in this World Cup so far. But, good thing is that we had not lost any match too. The team has played both their matches in draws.
Looking at the points table, team India is at the third position in Pool B with two points. China and New Zealand are above us. To make a top in Pool B, Indian women will have to beat Kiwis and at the same time, we would hope that China fails to register a win against England. Both teams are very close in ranking, New Zealand is ranked eighth in the world while India is ranked ninth.
It will be a tough chance for India
It will not be easy for women in blue to beat women in black. So far there have been 13 matches played between both sides, All of these matches have been won by the New Zealand team.
If we analyze India’s performance in the first two matches, while India has played both the match draw but Indian defense unit has good a very job so far in the world cup. The Indian team will try to improve the attacks on the opposition and the chances of goal-making. Overall the forward and midfielders have disappointed so far they will defiantly try to improve their game. Only Vandana Kataria’s form is looking promising so far. No other striker has been able to score a goal so far in two matches. Experienced Dragflicker Gurjit Kaur was also not seen in a good rhythm.
