With her own magnificent ODI century, Harmanpreet Kaur equals Mandhana’s incredible performance. In the 2nd One-Day International (ODI) match between India and England on Wednesday, India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, led the way with a sensational century to help the Indians reach a colossal score. Harmanpreet hit her fifth ODI century in the second game of the bilateral series between India and England at the St Lawrence Ground. This was her best performance with the white ball so far on the away tour. With her game-changing hit for the Women In Blue, the star Indian batter also wrote her name into history.
When the visitors accepted the offer to bat first at the St. Lawrence Ground in Canterbury, Shafali Verma got out for 8 runs in 7 balls, which was a bad start. In the second ODI between India and England, opener Smriti Mandhana scored 40 runs off 51 balls. Also, wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia was out after scoring 26 runs off of 34 balls.
Harmanpreet played a brilliant knock to show who was in charge in the high-profile series. First, she made sure that India gave England a strict target to beat. Then, in the 2nd ODI at Canterbury, Harmanpreet hit a quick hundred to make history. With her 5th ODI century in this match, the Indian captain is now on the same level as Mandhana.
Harmanpreet and Mandhana are now tied for the second most ODI centuries by an Indian batter in women’s cricket. Mithali Raj is a legendary Indian batter who has hit seven centuries for India in women’s ODI cricket.

Team India, led by Harmanpreet, beat England by 88 runs to win the series in a way that has never happened before. Harmanpreet became the Player of the Match because of how well she hit the ball.“When we came here, that was the goal (to win the series). Was a crucial win today as everybody stepped up. I always enjoy leadership as I’m always in the game and it feels good. When I was batting, during the first 50 runs, it wasn’t all that easy. I just took my time and the partnership with Harleen was important. Just gave freedom to myself later as I was well set,” Harmanpreet said after the match.
