With a victory over Chinese Taipei, India hopes to secure a spot in the Women’s Jr. Asia Cup semifinals: The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey team had an amazing start to their campaign at the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2023 in Kakamigahara, Gifu Prefecture, Japan as they won their first two games while pulling off an exciting tie in their third game after coming from behind.
Following a dominant 22-0 victory against Uzbekistan in their initial match, India defeated Malaysia with a comeback victory before rallying against Korea to get a 2-2 tie.
The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team will face Chinese Taipei in an effort to secure a spot in the semifinals. Notably, India is now in first place in Pool A with seven points after three games. If they win their last group stage match against Chinese Taipei, they would advance to the tournament’s last four stages.
The tournament has been wonderful for us thus far because we have yet to lose a game, Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team Captain Preeti said prior to the pivotal match. The matches against Malaysia and Korea were fiercely contested, but they offered us a chance to demonstrate our resiliency because we came back in both games after giving up the opening goal.
We make sure to stay steadfast in the face of any opposition by constantly keeping our goals and plans in mind. Despite the difficulties we encounter, we are determined to do our best and stick with our plans. Added she.
Indian Taipei shouldn’t have much issue upsetting Chinese Taipei, who have only won one of their three games thus far in the competition and are currently ranked fourth in pool A with just three points to their name, based on their previous performance.
On June 8, the Indian junior women’s hockey team will face Chinese Taipei in their fourth and final pool A match.
