According to the actual statement that was released by the All Britain Club, the players should stick to “fitting circumstances,” which includes not supporting Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
On Friday, the All England Club allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete at Wimbledon as neutral athletes after lifting the previous year’s ban.
Limiting Russia’s influence over Ukraine is one of the “reasonable conditions” that the players are supposed to adhere to.
The All Britain Club provided the following articulation: They should not receive any funding from the Russian or possibly Belarusian states that is proportional to their support for The Titles, with the exception of sponsorship from organizations that are controlled or operated by the states.
Competitors from Belarus and Russia have been permitted to compete independently in other tennis competitions.
The club stated, “We also consider alignment between the Grand Slams to be increasingly important in the current tennis environment.”
English tennis, the Titles, the interests of players and fans, and English tennis itself would suffer if the consequences were carried out. “A very demoralizing response from tennis oversight bodies to the All Britain Club, and the critical characteristics of the LTA’s necessary situation from last year.”
This year, the Wimbledon tournament will begin on July 3. The finals for the men and women are scheduled for July 15 and 16.
