Djokovic will face Kyrgios in final of Cincinnati
Novak Djokovic has reached his eighth Wimbledon final with a victory over Cam Norrie 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 on Centre Court. Djokovic will look for his fourth straight Wimbledon title and seventh overall against Nick Kyrgios in the final on Sunday.
With Nadal injured and Kyrgios advancing to the final, it is Kyrgios’ first Grand Slam final.
Norrie took part in the first Grand Slam semifinal, and won the first set. However, he didn’t take a single break point after that.
Djokovic, one of the world’s best tennis players and one who had been in great form earlier this year, is playing in a quarter-final match. Norrie is playing for the first time at a Grand Slam and has drawn Djokovic for the second round.
The winner will play Nick Kyrgios in Sunday’s final.
1:50 p.m: Nick Kyrgios is already feeling the nerves ahead of his first Grand Slam final which he advanced to as a result of Rafa Nadal withdrawing from Wimbledon because of an abdominal injury.
Paul grew frustrated the night before in his mind thinking about a Wimbledon final because he couldn’t get those thoughts away.
In the final Sunday, Kyrgios will face either six-time champion Novak Djokovic or his opponent for the first time, Cam Norrie. Djokovic has plenty of experience of reaching the finals at major tournaments.
Djokovic has the advantage as an experienced professional that Kyrgios can only emulate. He’s played on larger stages and understands the highly emotional feeling of a final, whereas Kyrgios hasn’t felt it before. This made it harder for Kyrgios to sleep.
At the historic Wimbledon Tennis Tournament, Novak Djokovic will play in the 8th final of his career. Djokovic is 6-time champion at All England Club and has won the last 3 tournaments. He is up against Cam Norrie who is ranked number 9th. The winner will face Nick Kyrgios on Sunday for the final.
