In the Major League Cricket 2023 final, Nicholas Pooran’s delivered arguably his finest knock of his career. Pooran blasted an undefeated 137 off 55 deliveries as captain of MI New York against the Seattle Orcas to help his team become the inaugural MLC champions.
However, Nicholas Pooran’s top T20 score will remain at 100. Because the MLC is a league played in the United States, which is an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). His 137-run knock in the MLC final will not be included in his T20 career statistics.
Although the ICC sanctioned this league, none of its matches had T20 status and were therefore classified as ‘other’ matches. As a result, Pooran’s T20 career records will still reflect only one century, which he scored for the Guyana Amazon Warriors against the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in a Caribbean Premier League 2020 league match.
Despite being ICC-sanctioned competitions, the UAE’s Abu Dhabi T10 League and International League T20 have ‘other’ status for all of their matches. The current Global T20 Canada event comes into this category as well.
Nicholas Pooran’s could make his T20I debut soon in India vs. West Indies series
Nicholas Pooran will now return to the West Indies to prepare for the forthcoming five-match series against India. Following a superb century in the Major League Cricket final. Because of the MLC, the wicketkeeper batter was unable to participate in the ongoing ODI series between the two teams.
The West Indies have yet to name their T20I roster for the five upcoming games against India. Pooran’s selection, on the other hand, should come as no surprise. It’ll be interesting to watch how the left-handed batter fared against the Men in Blue.
