Due to an injury, South African skipper Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of his team’s playing 11 for the second Test against India in Cape Town.
In the first innings of the first Test at Centurion, Bavuma hurt his hamstring while fielding.
He did not come to bat, and CSA medical staff determined that allowing him to bat was “too dangerous.”
Following constant medical evaluations, it was concluded that batting at this stage of the game would put his left hamstring injury in danger of intensifying.
The medical staff is managing him to give him the greatest chance to bat in the fourth innings, according to a CSA statement at the time.
The same logic has been taken to this Test, with an official statement stating that Bavuma would be evaluated ahead of the South Africa T20 event.
However, he was not required by the Proteas in the preceding Test. In his absence, Dean Elgar led the team and scored the most of the 408-run first innings.
He was well-supported by his fast bowlers, who annihilated India twice for 245 and 131 runs, respectively, to win by an innings and 32 runs.

SA vs IND, 2nd Test: “The situation we’ve been put in is not ideal,” comments Dean Elgar of South Africa
Because numerous elite players are contracted to participate in the SA20, the team that will trip to New Zealand for two Tests will be essentially a South Africa-A side.
