Why BCCI doesn’t allow its players to take part in foreign leagues
Why BCCI doesn’t allow its players to take part in foreign leagues: The argument between playing for your country and playing for your club has been reignited as a result of the impending Twenty20 leagues and Trent Boult’s decision to back out of his central contract.
The mania that engulfed cricketers in the West Indies many years ago is slowly spreading to players in other nations as well, and there is a possibility that the players would forego participating in international cricket in order to play in leagues in other countries.
Even though it was a World Cup year, the West Indies players still missed important matches for the Indian Premier League.
IPL
Every player wants to play in the Indian Premier Competition (IPL), which is a world-famous league, because in just two months they may make a substantial amount of money playing there. There isn’t any league that offers players a larger salary for working for such a short amount of time.
The success of the Indian Premier Tournament has encouraged the owners of the teams to participate in other competitions, and it appears that the 2017 CSA Twenty20 league would be contested entirely within India. The six teams that will compete in the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) are all owned by their respective franchise owners. The owners of teams in the Indian Premier League have also been successful in other leagues.
The involvement of Indian players in leagues located outside of India has been called into doubt as a result of this development. The BCCI’s response has always been negative, and the board has no intention of shifting its position at this time. Why does the BCCI not let its players compete in competitions outside of India?
The response is as follows: There is no room for dispute that every Indian player possesses his own brand value, and he brings it with him to every league or tournament that he goes on to play in. It is permitted for Indian male players to compete in county cricket and in List A matches; however, they are not permitted to compete in Twenty20 cricket because doing so would promote that league.
T20
Even though first-class and List A cricket don’t have a large enough following at the domestic level, Twenty20 matches continue to bring large audiences to the stadium.
This is a well-known fact. The participation of an Indian player in any Twenty20 league has the potential to increase that league’s worth also posing a threat to the IPL’s position as the premier Twenty20 competition in the world.
Due to the fact that Indian cricket players are only allowed to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL), there is no possibility of any Indian player participating in a foreign league in the near future. After a player has retired from international cricket, the Indian Premier League, and domestic cricket, he is eligible to compete in any league outside of India. While they are still playing in the IPL, players are not allowed to coach for any other teams.
Since women’s cricket in India is still in its early stages of development, female cricket players are permitted to compete in leagues held outside of India.
