“Whoever the f*** the voters are”: Anthony Edwards chastises NBA media for lack of attention
Anthony Edwards took it upon himself to shut down Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. during a successful first half of the Wolves-Grizzlies game, the fourth of the season series.
Edwards had a huge influence on the game by putting Jackson under pressure and limiting his options.
After the game, coach Chris Finch stated that ‘Ant’ stands out as the Timberwolves’ most tough on-ball defender in critical late-game circumstances such as the one on Wednesday, which also helped them offensively in the 110-101 victory.
When asked why he feels he does not receive enough credit for the All-Defense team, the two-time All-Star responded (via USA Today).
Anthony Edwards’ defense leads the Timberwolves’ comeback
Despite injuries to important players such as Rudy Gobert and Anthony Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves were able to turn things around after playing inconsistently for most of the game on Wednesday.
In the final stretch, they demonstrated their supremacy by banding together and finishing the game strong. At halftime, Jackson had 19 points, taking advantage of the open court.
He effectively used the elbow room to maximize his speed for drives to the basket, as the Timberwolves’ defense battled to contain him.
Jackson deftly slid around Gobert, displaying perfect technique near the rim.
The Minnesota Timberwolves encountered tremendous offensive problems, especially in the opening half of the game.
They didn’t score until 8:43 remaining in the opening quarter, giving the Memphis Grizzlies an early 12-0 lead.
This poor start was exacerbated by their inability to collect an offensive rebound after the half, which was followed by a long three by Memphis.
In only three minutes, they erased the deficit, showcasing a rapid and decisive burst of attacking effectiveness.
The Timberwolves altered their performance by scoring on their final nine third-quarter possessions, going from behind to leading the game.
