The 23-year-old Wu was leading 4-1 in his first-round match against Japan’s Yosuke Watanuki when he collapsed on a chair on his way to his corner. The officers immediately swung into action, but WU was unable to continue as he was out of condition.
When WU collapsed the temperature was reportedly 91 degrees Fahrenheit, indicating intense heat in Washington at the time.
The world No. 90 experienced a similar scare in his first-round Wimbledon tie against Frances Tiafoe at the All England Club, WU, in early July. At that time he fell on the court due to a breathing problem but was able to get up again. He returned to the game after receiving medical attention but lost 6–7, 3–6, 4–6.
Who is Wu Yibing?
Wu Yibing was born on October 14, 1999, and is a Chinese Tennis Player. He is right now ranked as high as world no 54 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), a position he first received on 10 April 2023, making him the second-ranked male Chinese player in history, just behind Zhang Zhizhen.
On 23 April 2018, she attained a career-high doubles ranking of 295. At the 2023 Dallas Open, Wu became the first Chinese man to compete in and win an ATP Tour-level singles final.
