How do tennis rankings work?
The ATP determines tennis world rankings and awards points based on a player’s performance at specific tournaments. A player will receive more points for progressing through a sanctioned event. With 2000 points going to the winner and 1200 going to the runner-up, grand slams award the most points. Each tournament’s points are good for a year, and rankings are updated every week.
