With there being no certain list of the best tennis players in history, some people have their own opinions of which player is better.
This list contains the top 10 tennis players of all time, so now is a good time to take a look at the list before Wimbledon.
10. Ken Rosewall and Andre Agassi
Ken Rosewall and Jimmy Connors have an equal number of career titles with 133 each. Many highly regarded tennis stars have been won at the age of 37.
Andre Agassi is next on this list with eight Grand Slam titles, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011. He’s earned over $31 million in prize money too.
9. John McEnroe
He was a controversial character with his fiery attitude, but his ability on the courts was unquestioned. Despite holding over 100 titles in his career, he never won a Grand Slam tournament.
8. Jimmy Connors
Jimmy Connors dominated tennis from the early 70s to 1974. He had a ridiculous 99-4 record at that time and won the Grand Slam tournaments he entered in 1974. However, Sirugas, who was in charge of World Team Tennis, banned him from tennis for his association with the team, which prevented him from winning at the French Open that year.
7. Ivan Lendl
Ivan Lendl remains one of the quietest and most humble competitors, never buying into the glitz and glamor surrounding tennis. He was the number one tennis player for seven years in a row which was already an impressive feat during his time.
6. Bjon Borg
In the late 70s, Björn Borg won five consecutive Wimbledon titles in a row. One of those victories was that staggering five-set nailbiter with John McEnroe, one of the greatest games of all time.
5. Pete Sampras
Pete Sampras did not complete the Grand Slam, with his loss of French Open in the end. He excelled on clay and hard courts, topping the world rankings for six years straight despite his struggles on clay.
4. Rod Laver
As the most successful player on this list, Rod Laver has an astounding 200 tennis titles to his name. He also won seven consecutive years as number one in 1964-1970. His contribution to Australian tennis was earth-shattering, with the court at the Australian Open now named in his honor.
3. Roger Federer
20 Grand Slams, with his age of 40, makes him the GOAT and by his 20-time Swiss number one, Rafael Nadal. This name gets in the way of injuries undermining his success at present.
2. Rafael Nadal
Roland Garros is the most prestigious clay court tournament, and current pro Rafael Nadal has won a total of 14 Grand Slam titles here. He has been competing professionally for over two decades, with 92 career victories so far.
1. Novak Djokovic
Novak Djokovic enjoyed healthy prime years from 2019 to 2021. He only lost two ATP tournaments that entire time and has 87 career titles. He’s still ranked in the top four of tennis’ rankings list and may be done with the ranking yet.
