A WNBA veteran player and a member of the Las Vegas Aces team, Riquna Williams, has been excluded from the team following her arrest on charges of felony domestic violence involving her spouse, as identified by authorities. Williams had been a part of the championship-winning team last year.
On Wednesday, a judge granted Williams, who is 33 years old, release from jail without bail. This happened less than a day after her arrest. Additionally, Williams must comply with alcohol monitoring until her next court appearance on August 2nd.
The Aces, Williams’ team, released a statement acknowledging her arrest.
The team expressed their strong condemnation towards any form of domestic violence and extended their thoughts to those involved in the situation. Meanwhile, the league released a statement stating that they are in the process of gathering more information.
As per court records, Williams faces five felony charges, including multiple counts of domestic battery by strangulation, coercion through physical force or threat, and assault with the use of a weapon. She also faces four misdemeanour domestic battery charges.

Williams, also known as “Bay Bay,” played as a shooting guard and on-court role-player in the previous season, averaging 6.7 points. However, she has been unable to play in the current season due to a back injury. During her initial appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court, she stood silently behind security glass in shackles.
During the court hearing, Williams’ public defender, Ryan Bashor, informed the judge that his client has been residing in Nevada for five years.
He added that there should not be any issue with a no-contact order since the person Williams is
accused of attacking has either relocated or is in the process of doing so.
On Tuesday, around noon, the police received a call from an upscale home located in the Southern
Highlands area, south of the Las Vegas Strip, as per the police report.
Williams and her wife had a disagreement about ending their four-year relationship, which led to the argument.
