Hesson made some mistakes or missteps during his tenure:
- RCB’s best bowler Yuji Chahal is not being retained
- Paddikal is not available in the 2022 auction
- Not able to build a strong Indian core in 4 years (still Kohli and Siraj are the only capable Indian players”-+
RCB looking for a new coaching staff
RCB has qualified for the playoffs three times so far under Bangar and Hesson’s tenure. However, the Faf du Plessis-led side failed to enter the playoffs in IPL 2023 earlier this year. The team recorded seven wins and seven losses in 14 league games and finished sixth.
During their time at RCB, both Sanjay Bangar and Mike Hesson shared a very good working relationship with the veteran Virat Kohli. He was also responsible for the auction strategy, but his failure to lead the team to the championship trophy ultimately appears to be the main reason for his dismissal.
As of now, Bangalore is yet to take a final call on bowling coach Adam Griffith. New prospects to join the squad include former Zimbabwean cricketer Andy Flower, whose stint with LSG recently ended after IPL 2023 and many had even tipped Ravi Shastri for the role.
