If you asked us who was going to win Serie A a few years ago, we would’ve said Juventus without
any hesitation. After all, the Old Lady dominated Italy for a decade and was even successful in the
Champions League. It reached 2 finals in 3 years.
However, the tide has turned. In the past 3 years, the bianconeri are struggling and they lack the
proper commitment. That allowed other teams to prevail and now, the competition is fierce. Mind
you, the teams are yet to reach their full potential, but the Italian league is now extremely fun to
watch.
The sheer competition is a good sight for those that want to place bets on the games. After all, the better the competition is, the higher the odds are. Of course, if you want to find the highest odds, you must search for them at the best betting sites. Reading Serie A tips and predictions can also increase your chances of coming out on top.
We wanted to jump into the conversation and give you a shortlist of our top favourites who are
likely to win the 2023/24 Serie A. Let’s have a look.
Napoli
Coming in at number one, we have last year’s winner. Napoli has all the momentum in the world and uses the lack of good form of the other great teams. Here’s where it gets a bit complicated, though. Luciano Spalletti, the manager that led Napoli to their first trophy in 33 years, requested a sabbatical and the club approved it.
He was one of the key ingredients in winning the Scudetto and now, it is unknown whether Napoli will have the same success without him. Some of the club’s most notable arrivals during the summer transfer period include:
Giacomo Raspadori (€26 million)
Giovanni Simeone (€12 million)
Natan (€10 million)
Milan
Milan seems to be the only team that knows Napoli’s weak point. Out of the last four games, Milan won three. They are one of the few teams that can challenge Napoli for the title in the upcoming season, but they’ve been facing some problems themselves.
Maldini, the club’s legend, played a key role in convincing Rafael Leão to stay at Milan. The club’s
board was not too fond of Maldini, though. Even with his efforts, they decided to sack him. That led to a huge uprising from the Tifosi.
Ricky Massara, AC Milan’s sporting director, was also relieved of his duties. This was the result of the “strategic plans” of the club. However, the fans are not too sure that this was the right move. We are yet to see whether this will impact the form of the players, but nevertheless, Milan remains among the top favourites.
Juventus
At the start, we talked about how Juventus is not currently in its top form. However, you can never
count the Old Lady out. Allegri is currently rebuilding the team and things are looking promising.
Bringing back the man that led them to 2 Champions League finals in 3 years was a smart move after the rocky period.
Many teams are looking to experiment and find new ways, which may prove to be a huge downfall. Juventus’ leadership decided to go with a tried recipe. Here’s the catch, though. Just like the other two teams that are favourites to win the league, Juventus is having problems on its own.
The most notable one was the FFP breach. That led them to UEFA taking 10 points away from them last season. Hence, Juventus did not qualify for the CL or the League Europa. Moreover, they were disqualified from the Conference League.
These developments may affect the team’s mentality. On the flip side, they might even make things easier for them. After all, the Old Lady will only have to focus on Serie A. In comparison, Milan and Napoli will have the Champions League on their mind.
Final Thoughts
At the moment, each team that is considered a favourite to win the Serie A is facing quite a few
problems. That makes it almost impossible to predict which one will come out on top. One thing is for sure. The current state of the best teams may be a perfect opportunity for the smaller clubs,
including Lazio, Roma, Fiorentina, Sassuolo, etc.
