In the 16th season of the Indian Premier League, teams will play their home games at the stadiums they have selected throughout India. On March 29, 2022, the BCCI issued an invitation to tender for IPL Media Rights from 2023 to 2027. INR 48,390 crores have been earned from the digital and television media rights to IPL 2023-27.
Over the course of the five years that the media rights are in place, 410 matches will be played, and the BCCI will receive approximately INR 118 crore per match. To keep their TV rights to the Indian subcontinent, Disney Star paid Rs 23,575 crore (Rs 57.5 crore per game), and Viacom18 won the digital rights with a bid of Rs 23,578 crore.
For INR 16,347.50 crores, Star India Network previously received the IPL broadcasting rights for the 2017–22 season, which included both digital and television rights. The IPL’s television and digital broadcasting rights have never been sold separately by the BCCI before.
Due to a value per match that increased by more than one hundred percent from the previous value of Rs 54.5 crore to above Rs 118.02 crore, the IPL is now the second-most expensive sports league in the world. Only the NFL’s value of USD 17 million surpasses the IPL’s USD 14.61 million per match.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suggested that the number of IPL games per season will be increased in the upcoming cycle of 2023-27.
