The Indian Premier League’s 16th season will follow an older format in which teams will play their home games at the stadiums they have chosen throughout India. On Walk 29, 2022, BCCI reported the arrival of a Challenge to Delicate for IPL Media Freedoms 2023-2027.
The IPL 2023-27 media rights have acquired INR 48,390 crores (digital+TV). Across five years of media privileges, a sum of 410 matches will be played where BCCI procures generally INR 118 crore for each match. Disney Star paid Rs 23,575 crore (Rs 57.5 crore per game) to keep their TV rights to the Indian subcontinent, while Viacom18 won the digital rights with a bid of Rs 23,578 crore.
In the past, Star India Network was awarded the IPL broadcasting rights for the 2017β22 season for INR 16,347.50 crores, which included both digital and television rights. The BCCI has never before sold the IPL’s television and digital broadcasting rights separately.
The IPL is now the second-most expensive sports league in the world thanks to a value per match that increased by more than 100% from the previous value of Rs 54.5 crore to above Rs 118.02 crore. IPL’s per-match value of USD 14.61 million is second only to the NFL’s USD 17 million value.
In the upcoming cycle of 2023-27, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has hinted at increasing the number of IPL games per season.
