Most recently in 2016, Andy Murray was the Wimbledon champion.

Andy won Noval after 12 months of losing against Roger Federer in the Wimbledon final.
Andy again brought the title home in 2016 when he won straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-2). During the 2013 Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic had an early exit due to shock suffering, Rafael Nadal was not participating due to injury, and Federer lost in the semifinals.
Virginia Wade was the last British woman to win Wimbledon Women’s title in 1977 against Betty Stove( Netherlands). It’s been 44 years since Britain won the Wimbledon title in Women’s singles. She won the three sets 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Moreover, she was the last British woman to reach the Wimbledon finals. The British won Wimbledon twice with Virginia Wade in 1997 and Ann Jones in 1969.
