Ravindra Jadeja’s, a member of Team India’s all-around squad, lauded Virat Kohli for his rapid reaction catch at the second slip during the first ODI match against the West Indies on Thursday, July 27 at Kensington Oval in Barbados. The Men in Blue put on a commanding performance to win by five wickets and take a 1-0 series lead.
Team India made an early breakthrough with the new ball after choosing to bowl first. Hardik Pandya’s bowling struck Kyle Mayers, and Ravindra Jadeja was crucial in assisting Mukesh Kumar in claiming his first ODI wicket. In the ninth over, the spin-bowling all-rounder caught Alick Athanaze with a daring catch at backward point.
In the 12th over, when Jadeja joined the assault, he initially gave up nine runs. After giving up 11 runs in his following over, he finally recovered by dismissing Shimron Hetmyer. In the 18th over, the left-arm spinner struck again with similar dismissals, the second of which Kohli brilliantly caught.
in an exchange with Kuldeep Yadav that the BCCI made public. It’s about time, Jadeja jokingly said, for someone to make a spectacular catch off one of his bowls.
“It was wonderful to watch someone take a terrific catch off my bowling for once; I often take good catches off other people’s bowling. Virat made a terrific catch; the ball kept low, so he had to be alert. It was a good take as he hardly got a chance to respond. On these kinds of surfaces, the bowler’s confidence is greatly increased if the fielder is on their side.
India bowled out the hosts for a pitiful 114 in just 23 overs, with Jadeja finishing with figures of 3-37 off his six overs. With five wickets in hand, the Men in Blue easily crossed the finish line despite a few batting order difficulties.
When bowling with his “hunting” partner Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja’s said, “Our priority was to not concede runs”
The middle-order hitters were quickly handled by Ravindra Jadeja. Kuldeep Yadav, a left-arm wrist bowler, put the finishing touches on the innings. The spinner quickly dispatched the remaining West Indies team with a four-over spell that netted four wickets.
He furthered his case for a spot in the starting lineup by winning the game’s Player of the Match award for his deeds.
On a surface that favored spin bowling, Jadeja discussed how they planned their bowling. He stated:
“The wicket offered a lot of spins, so as one spinner begins to bowl, the other gets a sense of how much the ball is gripping and bouncing as well as the appropriate length to bowl.”
He went on:
“Our top aim was to not give up runs because, as we even witnessed in the second innings, scoring was challenging due to the ball’s many turns and refusal to come to the bat. I believe we handled the ball similarly to how they advise to “hunt in pairs.”
The second ODI between Team India and Barbados will take place at Kensington Oval. The squad under the leadership of Rohit Sharma now leads the series 1-0 and will want to keep up its ODI World Cup preparations.
