India and the West Indies played their first Test match at Windsor Park weather in Dominica, and on the second day.
The visitors once again controlled the proceedings. 232 runs were made in total, however the Caribbeans only managed to take two wickets all day.
Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the overnight batsmen, were at the crease as the Men in Blue started the day with 80/0. The first pair played it safe and avoided wide deliveries. To gather the unusual boundaries, Jaiswal and Rohit both capitalised on the loose balls.
Jaiswal became only the sixth Indian to hit a hundred in their Test debut away from home and was the first to cross the three-figure threshold. Soon after, Rohit accomplished the mark as well, scoring his tenth century in tests.
Alick Athanaze removed Rohit just when it seemed like India would go on to register a sizable total on the board. As India’s new No. 3, Shubman Gill struggled, going out after just scoring six runs.
The squad was subsequently led on the pitch by Jaiswal and Virat Kohli on Day 2, with India well-positioned at 312/2, leading by 112 runs.
At the conclusion of Day 2, Yashasvi Jaiswal expressed her joy on reaching 100 and complimented the team’s leadership and captain Rohit Sharma.
The child spoke to the host broadcaster and said:
It’s hard to gain opportunities in the Indian squad, therefore I believe this is one of my emotional setbacks. I want to thank everyone for their support, as well as the fans, team management, and Rohit Bhai.
