Seven uncapped players will join a 15-man West Indies cricket side in Australia for two test matches in January. Cricket West Indies said Wednesday that Kraigg Brathwaite will return as captain, with fast bowler Alzarri Joseph selected as the new vice-captain.
Batter Zachary McCaskie, wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach, allrounders Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Kevin Sinclair, and fast bowlers Akeem Jordan and Shamar Joseph are the uncapped players.

According to team officials, Jayden Seales was ineligible for selection because of a shoulder issue, and Jason Holder and Kyle Mayers were unavailable because they wanted to pursue Twenty20 league chances in January.
“The squad has been hampered by the absence of some key players,” chief selector Desmond Haynes remarked. “However, over the last year, we have had a very strong red-ball program.” A trip to Australia is always challenging, but we have faith in our team.”

The group will travel in Australia on December 30 and will undergo a preparatory camp in Adelaide from January 2-9, followed by a four-day first-class warm-up match against a Cricket Australia XI from January 10-13.
The two sides will play once more for the Frank Worrell Trophy, named after the renowned West Indian allrounder and captain. The first test will be held in Adelaide from January 17 to 21, while the second will be a day-night, pink-ball match at Brisbane’s Gabba from January 25 to 29.

Following the test series, the West Indies will play three one-day internationals and three Twenty20 matches against Australia. The squads for those games will be confirmed later.
Australia presently leads the three-match test series against Pakistan 1-0. The teams will play again commencing December 26 in Melbourne and January 3 in Sydney.
