West Ham signs Flynn Downes
According to Sky Sports, a deal for Downes, who is undergoing the second stage of his physical, is nearing completion, with West Ham growing increasingly optimistic of completing the transfer.
The Hammers are lacking in central midfield following the retirement of club captain Mark Noble in the summer, and the former Ipswich midfielder might fill that combative hole.
Last season, the 23-year-old made 39 games in all games for the Championship club, who are set to replace Downes with Joe Allen.
The Welshman’s contract with Stoke City expired this summer, making him a free agent. The Swans are currently in talks with the player’s representation about his potential return to the team.
Prior to joining Liverpool for £15 million in August 2012, the 32-year-old started his career with Swansea, where he made 150 senior games.
Additionally, West Ham and Fulham are in negotiations to sell Diop, although the two parties’ asking prices differ.
Initial discussions focused on a base price of £12 million plus performance-related add-ons, although the Irons assign a center-back valuation of almost £20 million.
The 25-year-old, who left Toulouse for West Ham in June 2018 for a then-club-record £21.9 million, started just 10 Premier League games while he recorded 26 outings overall.
After contacting Manchester United earlier in this transfer window on Eric Bailly’s availability, Fulham is now looking for a central defender.
Andreas Pereira of Manchester United is being pursued by the newly promoted team. Before finalising a £10 million transfer, the 26-year-old Brazilian will finalise his personal terms during his Fulham medical on Thursday.
Manor Solomon, 22, of Shakhtar Donetsk, is also expected to join Fulham on a season-long contract following passing his medical test.
