India’s Mumbai, Maharashtra, on December 9 (ANI):
Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur adulated the recently selected batting mentor Hrishikesh Kanitkar.
Saying that he brings truly necessary quiet presence and experience aside and the group is well taken care of under him.
Kanitkar was named as the group’s batting mentor in front of the home series against Australia, which will begin on Friday and contains five T20Is.
In what they referred to as a “restructuring module,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) transferred the team’s head coach.
Ramesh Powar, to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as a spin bowling coach
Powar’s second season as the women’s team’s head coach comes to an end with this.
I’ve always enjoyed working with Ramesh sir, and under his leadership, we’ve developed as a team and learned a lot.
Moving him to NCA and having him work as a spin-bowling coach is the BCCI’s decision.
Hrishi sir is with us in Sri Lanka, and we had a wonderful time with him there. We can only look forward to his extensive experience.
“[Kanitkar] is quiet and we wanted somebody who can give us the smoothness on the field.
We have found before, at times in pivotal circumstances, young ladies need backing of some quiet figure who can direct them through their viewpoints.
There was a lot of optimism among the team when we learned that he would be available for the Australia series, having gone through everything in Sri Lanka.
Kanitkar had previously served as a batting consultant for the women’s team during this year’s tour of Sri Lanka.
He was recently a member of the India men’s team on the tour of New Zealand. India had prevailed 3-0 in both the ODI and T20I series.
During the third ODI of that series, India managed to score 255/9 despite being 124/6 thanks to a 97-run partnership between Harmanpreet and Pooja Vastrakar.
Powar was likewise at steerage between June-November 2018, during which India came to elimination round of the ICC T20 World Cup 2018.
Women in Blue finished in the group stages of the 50-over World Cup during his most recent tenure with the team.
However, the team also won the Asia Cup trophy and a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games.
Pawar has won a series of one-day international matches in England and Australia, ending Australia’s 26-match home unbeaten streak.
Although it is not yet known who will succeed Powar as head coach.
Harmanpreet is fairly optimistic about her team’s preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup, which is two months away.
However, given that we have already collaborated with Hrishi, sir, I do not anticipate any issues.
With another mentor, you need to make sense of about how we are functioning and the way that we need to push ahead.
However, Hrishi sir already knows what kind of work it is, and that won’t change much.
India’s T20I team against Australia is as follows:
Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Shafali Verma (wicketkeeper), Yastika Bhatia (wicketkeeper),
Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Renuka Singh Thakur, Meghna Singh, Anjali Sarvani, Devika Vaid ANI)
