Wayne Rooney Backfires at Kylian Mbappe Over Lionel Messi Shove: ‘Never Seen A Bigger Ego
Wayne Rooney Backfires at Kylian Mbappe Over Lionel Messi Shove: Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe belongs to a group of the best players in the world. But, many are questioning his attitude after observing a video of him shoving Lionel Messi before an argument with Neymar Jr. over a penalty emerged.
Mbappe was retained by PSG in an expensive deal that earned him a few club-level decision-making powers. He has been trending in the news since the end of last season. A number of reports suggested that Mbappe wanted Neymar out of the club this summer. The two are rumored to be involved in a conflict over the No. 1 penalty taker at the club.
Amid all this chatter and drama, Mbappe seemed to have misbehaved with Messi pushing him during the recent Ligue 1 match against Montpellier. After giving Messi a shove, the Frenchman went on to have an argument with Neymar. He wanted to be allowed to take the penalty despite the fact that he had missed from the spot earlier in the same match.
The video infuriated many on social media, and even Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has observed that Mbappe has been consumed by his ego.
“A 22-23-year-old player throwing a shoulder at Messi. I have never seen a bigger ego than this in my life. Someone remind Mbappe that at 22 years old, Messi had four Ballon d’Ors,” Rooney told Depar Sports.
In the video that went viral on social media, even Messi was amazed by Mbappe’s audacity to shoulder him.
While no one can deny that Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe are among the top players in the world, PSG lacks the cohesion required to win big trophies.
The PSG management’s biggest target is to win the Champions League. Even though the club has assembled an enviable squad, the team has to learn to work as a unit.
