Nehra lost his cool for a brief time during the game, despite GT’s comfortable victory, which ensured their playoff spot.
How frequently have you witnessed coach Ashish Nehra lose his cool? As a player, most likely two or multiple times.
Nehra, on the other hand, has largely been content with the Gujarat Titans’ impressive run in the Indian Premier League since their inaugural season in 2022. Indeed, he is dependably restless in the hole.
He rarely sits and is always listening to Captain Hardik Pandya or chatting with mentor Gary Kirsten about strategies. Yet, on Monday, IPL fans saw an alternate Nehra.
Nehra lost his cool for a brief moment during the game, despite the Gujarat Titans’ comfortable victory in their final home league game of the season, which ensured their playoff spot.
On Monday, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost against Rajasthan Royals. SRH, like RR, appeared completely disorganized on the challenging Narendra Modi Stadium track as they fell like nine pins in pursuit of GT’s 189-run goal.
Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma got four wickets each as SRH stumbled their approach to 154/9. At one point, their record was 7 for 59.
Their last scorecard was given a decent look by Heinrich Klaasen who scored 64 off 44 balls.
GT consequently prearranged a vehement win of 34 rushes to turn into the leading group to make the end-of-the-season games in IPL 2023.
The Nehra incident, however, occurred in the first innings. After losing Wriddhiman Saha in the first over of the match for a duck,
Gujarat recovered well during the 147-run stand between Shubman Gill and Sai Suharsan. However, the GT coach probably was not pleased with the team’s performance in the game’s final stages.
It was first noticed after Gill scored his first IPL ton. Nehra was the only GT member and player who remained seated and displayed no emotion throughout the celebration of the youngster’s century.
In fact, the response perplexed commentators Saba Karim and Aakash Chopra, stating that Nehra probably expected more from the team and did not celebrate the ton.
Even Aakash had noted that GT had passed 200 on May 7 when Gill was attempting to reach that elusive number before being limited to 94, but they were well off on Monday.
SRH later returned in preeminent style, picking six wickets in the last three overs, which remembered four wickets for the last over as GT oversaw 188 for nine.
Nehra was seen fuming at the batters for making hasty shots during that collapse. He was also seen having a heated conversation with Captain Hardik after the innings was over.
Both Hardik and Nehra appeared to be very energized during the extreme talk. Vikram Solanki, the GT director of cricket, was seen attempting to calm Hardik down after Nehra vanished.
In spite of what had happened in the first inning. GT managed to win easily at home and advance to the playoffs.
They still have a game left in the league stage against RCB. If they win, the defending champions will finish in the top two.
