Virat Kohli has passed Rahul Dravid to become India’s second all-time leading run scorer in international competition. In the third and final T20I of the three-match series, which took place on Sunday in Hyderabad, Virat Kohli was on fire for the Men in Blue against Australia (September 25). The best right-handed batter scored 63 runs in 48 balls, which was a big part of India’s six-wicket win over the reigning T20 World Cup champions and helped his team win the three-game series at home by a score of 2-1.
In the match
India needed 187 runs to win, but they were struggling at 30 for 2 after 3.4 overs. Virat, who hadn’t done much in the first two games, teamed up with Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 69 runs from 36 balls, including 5 fours and 5 sixes, to help India reach the needed total in 19.5 overs. For the third wicket, the two of them worked together to score 104 runs in 10.2 overs. This set the tone for India.
Virat scored the most runs for India in the 2022 Asia Cup T20. Moreover, recently, he got his 33rd T20I fifty and moved closer to Rohit Sharma’s record for the most runs scored in T20I matches. Rohit has 3694 runs from 139 matches, while Virat has 3660 runs from 107 matches, thanks to his 63-run innings on Sunday.
The record
On Sunday, he reached another important milestone for India by becoming the team’s second all-time leading run scorer in international cricket. Rahul Dravid, who is now the head coach of Team India, had more runs than the 33-year-old. After his 63-run innings, Kohli has now scored 24,078 runs for India, which is 14 more than Dravid’s total. Sachin Tendulkar, a legendary batter, is at the top of the list with 34,375 runs.
