Mitchell Marsh, a cricketer for the Perth Scorchers, will miss the Big Bash League after having surgery on a long-standing ankle injury this week. This will severely hurt his chances of being called up for a Test.
After undergoing keyhole surgery to repair cartilage and remove loose bone fragments from his left ankle, the 31-year-old is expected to be out of commission for three months.
Marsh will most likely not be available for Australia’s much-anticipated Test tour of India, but he will get back to full health in time for the World Cup next year.
He was included in Australia’s Test squad for their most recent trip to Asia, which included a two-match series against Sri Lanka in July. However, he hasn’t played in a Test match since the Ashes in 2019.

According to a statement released by the Perth Scorchers, General Manager of High Performance Kade Harvey, “Losing Mitch and Phil so close to the start of the season is very disappointing.”
He also has a huge impact on the group through his leadership and presence.
Phil has shown his class both for England and in international Twenty20 tournaments, so it’s unfortunate that he won’t wear orange this summer.

“It is very disappointing to lose Mitch and Phil so close to the start of the season.”
Mitch is one of the best ball strikers in international cricket, has a great record in the MBBL, and he has a huge impact on the team through his leadership and presence.
“Phil has demonstrated his class both for England and in international Twenty20 tournaments, so it’s unfortunate that he won’t wear orange this summer.
We are aware of the difficulty of covering for Mitch and Phil’s absence, but we are proud of our team’s depth and have a lot of players who can step up.
“The organization as a whole is still driven like never before to win a fifth MBBL championship.”
After the cricketer tested positive for a prohibited substance during a routine anti-doping test in August, the Scorchers terminated his contract with the England import.
“It snapped just now.I felt and heard everything. It hurt pretty bad.
He said, “Please tell me you’re joking, please tell me you’re joking,” as I briefly screamed.
