UTSA breaks ground on Park West Fieldhouse : Today marks the formal start of construction on UTSA’s Park West Fieldhouse, a brand new facility that will be the permanent home of the school’s men’s and women’s. And, as the cross-country and field departments, as well as the women’s soccer team.
The university’s strategic vision to better support the academic success, health, wellness, and performance of its student-athletes includes the construction of Park West Fieldhouse, which is another milestone in the plan.
The facility will continue a long-standing connection between the university and Bexar County, and it will enhance the community’s ability to continue to host regional and national sporting events for children and young adults.
Park
The UTSA Park West Athletics Complex, which can be found on Kyle Seale Parkway next to Loop 1604, will be the location where the new facility, which will cost $8 million and have 14,325 square feet of space, will be built.

New facility
The new facility will help strengthen UTSA’s competitiveness in the recruitment and retention of the nation’s best student-athletes, coaches, and staff members, which will ultimately lead to increased success for the university.
There will be a communal space that may be used for a variety of purposes, locker rooms, team lounges, a sports health center, and an equipment area.

Gene Dawson, the president of the Roadrunner Foundation, was quoted as saying that the Park West Fieldhouse will give UTSA a first-class facility, which will help the university attract the best student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
“The momentum that was gained from launching the Roadrunner Athletics Center of Excellence the previous year in combination with breaking ground on this new building continues to assist in propelling UTSA and the Athletics Department to the next level.
Being a Roadrunner at this point in time is a very exciting experience.”
In keeping with its mission to be an urban-serving and community-engaged institution of higher education, The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) will make the Park West Athletics Complex available to the general public for a variety of uses, including athletics camps, competitive events, and clinics.
Bexar County will continue to benefit from UTSA’s collaboration with Visit San Antonio, San Antonio Sports, and other organizations to host a variety of sporting events.
