Usman Khawaja receives a severe knock to his chin during the first AUS vs. WI Test and leaves the game injured. Early on Day 3, the Australian side, led by Usman Khawaja, easily defeated the West Indies by 10 wickets in the inaugural Test match played at the Adelaide Oval. But Khawaja took a hard knock towards the conclusion of the match, which forced him to leave the field.
Following their destructive play in day 2’s last session, the Australian bowlers completed the formalities by dismissing the West Indies for a meager 120 in their second innings. Josh Hazlewood took five wickets to round off the innings. The Windies had taken a slim 26-run advantage into the home summer. The Australians had to close to secure their fourth consecutive victory.

In an attempt to finish the pitiful run chase and give Australia the lead in the two-match series. The new opening tandem of Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja left the game early. After six overs, the scores were tied, and Khawaja had to make the final run to win.
But Shamar Joseph, making his debut, delivered a devastating short ball that crushed the left-handed hitter. Khawaja attempted to dodge and deflect it off, but it smacked him squarely on the helmet. When consulting with the medical team, it was determined that the southpaw would not complete his innings when it seemed that the ball had struck his chin.
When the mishap occurred, Khawaja was batting with nine runs. Marnus Labuschagne was thrust into the center by the extraordinary event. To finish with the victory, he took a single off his second delivery.
Usman Khawaja’s current series is his first absence of David Warner as his opening partner in a long time due to the latter’s retirement.
Steve Smith and Khawaja started the batting together. They scored 25 runs for their initial wicket before Shamar Joseph caused mayhem, despite Khawaja’s disapproval of the action.
