Unique trivia proves why Hooda should be in India’s T20 World Cup XI
Unique trivia proves why Hooda should be in India’s T20 World Cup XI: One of the one-day international matches between India and Zimbabwe is still ongoing, but India has already secured victory in the series despite having one match remaining.
India won the game by five wickets and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series after chasing 162 runs while playing in Harare.
The game was finished in only 25.4 overs by India. And with the win, Deepak Hooda became the first ever cricketer in the 145 years of international cricket to record a unique piece of trivia, which also demonstrates why he should be in every playing XI of the Indian squad in both the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup tournament.
Hooda received his first call-up to the India squad earlier this year after having a successful season in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. He then made his international debut for India in the One-Day International format during a home series against the West Indies.

So far, he has participated in 16 international matches for India, including seven One-Day Internationals and nine Twenty20 Internationals. In the 16 games, India did not suffer a single defeat. In the 145 years that men’s international cricket has been played, this is presently the longest winning streak ever held by a player.
It would appear that Hooda has become India’s good luck charm. Why not guarantee him a berth in India’s starting eleven for all of the country’s matches in the T20 World Cup and Asia Cup in 2022?
Hooda has impressed selectors with his versatility in the batting order as well as his scoring ability, having played as an opener, middle-order batter, and finisher for India. He has made nine appearances in Twenty20 Internationals and has scored a total of 274 runs at a strike rate of 161.17, including a century.
Because of his outstanding performance, he has also been selected to represent India at the Asia Cup. The competition will start on August 27 and continue into the following week in the UAE. If Hooda is able to maintain his impressive run of form, he would most likely be selected for the Twenty20 World Cup squad as well. This would be a first for any player in the history of the tournament.
