The All India Football Federation banned a participant of the U-17 women’s team staff on Thursday for suspected wrongdoing while on tour in Norway. The federation, which is now being administered by a Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), did not identify the person in a short statement. Nonetheless, he has been ordered to return to India ‘promptly’ to participate in the probe.

The state associations associated with the AIFF claimed in a joint statement published hours later that the concerned individual was a coach of the squad, and they asked the CoA and the AIFF to ‘introduce an impartial probe after registering a FIR.’
The Under-17 squad is now in Norway as component of a European awareness tour advance of the Women’s World Cup, that will be held in India in October. The team’s main coach, Thomas Dennerby, is said to have brought the situation to the attention of the AIFF’s National Teams department, which subsequently alerted the CoA.
The state bodies voiced “no certainty” in the National Team section of the AIFF. And have released the statement which mentioned that an An impartial inquiry into the planning and operating of the National Team Department, particularly the choices and behavior of the Head of National Team Department, must be performed to demonstrate the frequent failures, along with the appointment of mentors and scouts in AIFF.
India’s Under-17 women’s squad will make their World Cup appearance on October 11, once they face the United States on the tournament’s inaugural day.
“An incidence of misbehaviour has been reported in the U17 women’s squad presently on an exposure tour to Europe,” the AIFF stated in a release. The AIFF has a strict zero-tolerance policy for misconduct. As a first step, the Federation has suspended the individual pending further inquiry. The AIFF has requested that the affected person cease all communication with the team, return to India as soon as possible, and be present physically for additional examinations upon his return.”
