India selected Jaydev Unadkat, a left-arm pacer, and Kuldeep was dropped from the team as a result. With eight wickets, the left-arm wrist spinner was named “Player of the Match” in the first Test.
Sunil Gavaskar, a batting legend and former captain of India, slammed the Indian team management for removing Kuldeep Yadav from the playing XI for the second Test match against Bangladesh, which is currently taking place in Mirpur. Gavaskar was blunt in his criticism.
India chose to get left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat and the choice implied Kuldeep dropped the group. With eight wickets, the left-arm wrist spinner was named “Player of the Match” in the first Test.
Gavaskar said he couldn’t believe that player, who had performed so well in the previous Test, was dropped. It was a harsh decision.
That is unbelievable to drop a Man of the Match player. I can only describe you with that kind word. “I would like to use much stronger words, but it’s unbelievable that you left out a man of the match, who got eight out of the 20 wickets,” Gavaskar said on the Sony Sports network, which hosted the broadcast. Gavaskar further said that India could have dropped either Axar Patel or Ravichandran Ashwin instead of Kuldeep.
“You have two different spinners. There is no doubt that one of the other spinners was dropped. However, this man, who took eight wickets, ought to have played today considering the surface.” KL Rahul, India’s stand-in captain, declared at the toss that dropping Kuldeep was a difficult decision.
It’s hard to make a decision about Kuldeep, but we know Ashwin and Axar can find spin and bring Jaydev in to cover everything. “Unfortunately, we have made the decision to exclude him (Kuldeep), but this presents Unadkat with an opportunity,” Rahul stated. By the end of the second session on Day 1, India had taken five wickets, and Unadkat has been the best bowler.
