UEFA Women’s EURO 2022: Venue and other details. For the first time since 2015, England is going to host the UEFA Women’s championship. The championship went underway on July 6 at Old Trafford. Across the country, there are 10 stadiums with the best facilities that will host the championship. However, not all venues are appreciated by fans, as some of the venues have small capacities. Wembley Stadium
Located in London, the iconic Wembley Stadium is the home ground of the England team. The stadium has the capacity to host 90,000 spectators and will host the UEFA finals in 2022. Wembley Stadium is one of the premium stadiums in the world, it has hosted many UEFA champion league finals. It is regarded as iconic and one of the best stadiums.
Old Trafford
Old Trafford located in Manchester will host the opening match of UEFA Women’s EURO 2022. The home ground of Manchester United will be used only for the opening match between Austria and England. The iconic ground has hosted many finals and matches since its inauguration. FA cup final champions league final, 1966 World cup matches, 2012 Olympics, and EURO 96 Matches were held here. The stadium has the capacity to host 74,879 spectators.
St Mary Stadium
The St Mary stadium is located in Southampton and can host 32,505 visitors. The stadium will host 3 group games of Women’s EURO 2022. The first match here will be held on July 15 between Northern Ireland and England.
Bramall Lane
Bramall is located in Sheffield and can host 32,702. The Stadium is home to Sheffield United and will host 3 group matches. The stadium will host group C matches and semi-finals. It is one of the oldest football grounds in England, part of one of the two stadiums to play English International football matches.
Brighton & Hove Community Stadium
The stadium is located in Brighton and can host 31,800 visitors. It is the home ground for Brighton & Albion club. This stadium is the new feature in the tournament and will host 2 group A matches and 1 Quarter-Final match. The stadium is built with versatile facilities to play other sports as well.
Stadium MK
The 3rd largest stadium to be used in England’s league. It will host 3 group stage matches and the 2nd semi-final. The stadium is home ground to Milton Keynes Dons club and can host 30,500 spectators. It was also used for the Rugby world cup and has hosted many concerts.
Manchester City Academy Stadium
Located in Manchester, it is home to Manchester City Women. The stadium can host 7000 spectators but is now reduced to 4700. The stadium will host 3 group Datches. This was one of the most controversial selections for the tournament and is under the radar of fans & critics. Despite its lowest capacity, it was added to the list of venues rather than other stadiums in the country.
Leigh Sports Village
Located in Leigh, the stadium can host 12000 spectators, but it is reduced to 8100. It is home to Manchester united women and Leigh Centurions. The stadium will host 3 Group C matches and a quarterfinal. Another controversial selection with reduced capacity, the stadium doesn’t host regular football games.
New York stadium
The New York stadium is located in Rotherham and home to Rotherham United. It can host 12,201 visitors; it will host 3 group D matches and Quarter-Final. The stadium has previously hosted Men’s EURO U-17 finals and England Women’s matches in 2016.
Brentford Community Stadium
Another stadium in London is home to Brentford FC and London Irish. The stadium has a capacity of 17,250 spectators. It will host 3 group C matches.
