UEFA rejects the plea to play the national anthem before champions league matches
UEFA rejects the plea to play the national anthem before champions league matches. Manchester United, Chelsea FC, and Rangers requested UEFA to allow the playing of the national anthem. They made a request to play ” God save the king ” following the silence in memory of the Queen.
However, it’s understandable that supporters are going to defy the move. Rangers Dan’s expecting to pay tribute to Queen and sing the anthem
Additionally, UEFA already decided to go against playing the National Anthem in the Champions league.
As per the official reports by Sky Sports, UEFA says ” There will be no national anthem, it also includes UEFA Champions league. To maintain consistency in pre-match ceremonies with a subdued atmosphere and other celebration activities in the UK at all venues to show our respect. The way we did last Thursday.”
Only Rangers supporters are going to be on the ground due to a lack of logistics. No away fan will watch the game on the Ground for sporting integrity. The Rangers are going to play against Neapolis.
In addition, Across all the venues, players will wear black armbands. They are taking part in a moment of silence in the memory of Queen Elizabeth II.
