Robin Uthappa Yusuf Pathan is an Indian former cricketer who was born on November 17, 1982. Pathan played first-class cricket for the first time. He was a right-handed batsman and an off-break bowler with a right arm.
Robin Venu Uthappa (conceived 11 November 1985) is a previous Indian cricketer, who last played for Kerala in homegrown cricket and Chennai Super Rulers in IPL. Robin has played for India in Tests and One-Day Internationals.
Yusuf Pathan and Robin Uthappa were members of the Indian squad that won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007.
The International League T20 (ILT20) franchisees can now recruit more players thanks to a recent change in recruitment regulations. The Dubai Capitals took advantage of this opportunity to sign former India World Cup winners Yusuf Pathan and Robin Uthappa for the first UAE T20 league.
In accordance with the modification to the rule, Pathan was included in the squad and retired from both the Indian Premier League and international cricket in February 2021.
The ILT20 organizers have altered the rules for recruiting players, increasing the squad size from 18 to 25 players, as previously announced, allowing franchises to acquire additional players.
As a result, Robin Uthappa was signed by Dubai Capitals and Yusuf Pathan, making him the first Indian player to play in the UAE T20 League. Uthappa, like Pathan, has stopped playing any and all Indian cricket. The BCCI prohibits their central and state-contracted players from participating in international Twenty20 Leagues.
The 42-year-old Pathan, who was a member of the Indian squads that won the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the T20 World Cup in 2007, was signed.
Patan Power is coming
At #DPWorldILT20, Patan Power is coming. We’re pleased to welcome Yusuf Pathan, a T20 legend who is skilled at making big sixes. Dubai Capitals announced the news via their official Twitter handle. Can’t wait to get started.
Pathan played in the Legends League Cricket after quitting international cricket and the Indian Premier League in 2021. He finished the 2022 season as the second-highest run-scorer. Pathan scored 48 runs in seven games for the Bhilwara Kings, scoring 184 runs at an average of 30.66.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of the Dubai Capitals. I want to express my gratitude to GMR Group for believing in me. I’m anticipating an astounding ILT20 season where we will make an honest effort to win the debut version of this fabulous T20 Association,” Pathan said in a video delivered by Dubai Capitals on Twitter.
